Our Vineyards

In 2019, Daniel and Kristine identified a unique opportunity to acquire a partial rock and clay-strewn property located in Cawston in the renowned Similkameen Valley.

This is the property where Daniel will be crafting expressive, small lot premium wines with a focus on single vineyard rosé . Knowing that the stars have really aligned, Daniel oversaw the planting of the vines in the new 3.5-acre Solum Rosa™ vineyard with three grape varieties for their estate wines including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Grenache, to support their Seven Directions rosé portfolio.

In addition to grapes produced in our vineyards, we bring in grapes from other top growers making our wines truly “grown in the Okanagan!”

Daniel is very excited about leveraging his expertise, knowledge, and instinct to deliver extraordinary fruit that showcases the distinctive characteristics of our vineyards. Cultivating with organic methods, almost all the tasks will all be done by hand. Each of the single-vineyard bottlings will express the personality of the site.

Bottega Wine Studio’s SolumRosa Vineyards in Cawston, BC

Nestled between the mountains, our sun-drenched Similkameen vineyard soaks up long hours of sunlight every day. At the peak of the season, our vineyards can get as much as two hours more sunlight per day than other regions. Fuelled by the sun, our vineyards get a longer season that allow grapes more time to ripen and cooler nights that help intensify flavours. This is the perfect natural recipe for making great wine.

“We can produce age-worthy wines — with vibrancy, minerality, complexity, and elegance — reminiscent of old world wine “.

Daniel Bontorin

The purchase of the Cawston estate in the emerging Similkameen wine region gives Daniel and Kristine the flexibility and growth potential to leverage their brands and increase production and with the Tasting room planned demand is sure to increase!

“I’m thrilled to start working within our tight knit community and pursue my lifelong dream of crafting small production wines in our own estate winery setting, and what a perfect place to be in the Similkameen Valley.” Daniel Bontorin

Daniel and Kristine are excited about their new Tasting Room, now open, to showcase the best of the Similkameen through their wines. They look forward to you stopping by to sample their wines overlooking the vineyards. This is a family affair, and the Bontroin’s will welcome you personally on your next visit.
